We had already booked dinner plans and after an 8 hour drive with 4 kids we needed to clean up and change before dinner, however because of lack of cleaning we couldn't get into our rental even though we said we would be there by 3. We ended up changing in the parking lot and went to dinner. The rental was finally ready by the time we got back that night. What was the point of giving our time of arrival if the rental wouldn't be ready until they were ready. Once we got back that night, we found a used dirty dish rag and dishes on the kitchen counter. Other than that, it was fairly clean. I'd say the place never has been dusted. The beds were covered in dust, windows clearly never cleaned, it was kind of gross in my opinion. The bed quilt was torn in many places as well. We also did wash our towels and found that the lint trap thingy had probably not been cleaned out in forever! The rental itself looked as pictured and the kids loved the place. I don't think I would spend that kind of money on it again though." Of the 4TVs, 2 of them didn't work. The toilet in the main bath leaked water on the floor. The ice maker didn’t dispense ice. One of the lights over the counter was out and one in the second bath was out. There was no soap to run the dishwasher the morning we left. We texted several times with the office to get the hot tub resolved. After the second maintenance man came out he got it working. We were told it was not filled correctly. He also had an attitude about him. We tried the tv’s on Saturday. We called the office and were told we would receive a video. Neither my husband or myself received the video. We called Sunday about the tv’s and leaking toilet. A very nice maintenance man came out and fixed both very quickly. All these issues could have been prevented if the cabin was throughly checked over before we arrived. We have stayed at several of your cabins and this was by far the worst ." A Desire Fulfilled needs a top to bottom deep cleansing and update. This rental should be removed from the listing until the cleanliness issue is addressed and updates are performed. The cabin needs some upgrades. Our thermostat was broken and needed replacing, so it was difficult to control the temperature. We spent the first night extremely cold. There were cobwebs on the bed frame, and there were wire spikes that scratched us a few times. It was hard to cook a meal given the lack of pots, pans, and tools that some of the other cabins come with. The furniture on the bottom level needs some deep cleaning or replacing. We stayed at a different cabin right before visiting this one and the experience was night and day. Upgrades would really do this cabin some justice." The rain shower is aimed at the door and as such was not enjoyable and barely functioned as a shower. The dust and overall lack of cleanliness left is all with sinus infections. The deck offered no views of anything but the trees immediately next to it. Sitting on the deck still should have been peaceful but it was not given the constant construction noise. The carpet was thread bare and torn in both bedrooms. Starving bears were seen several times in the driveway. I contacted the property managers upon arrival about the homes stench and misrepresentation and was brushed off. I contacted them again when I received the email to review them and they assured me that they would refund some of my money. They never called me back or refunded a dime. There was no where for our family to sit and be together...which was the purpose of our family vacation! Sleeping 7 people was also a challenge. We had 3 teenagers in the bunk bed room. We had 2 adult males sleeping on the sleeper sofa --they did NOT sleep well at all. The bed was uncomfortable and was extremely noisy. Every time they moved, the noise was so loud in the master bedroom below, that we did not sleep either! It sounded like someone was breaking in or scraping the floor. Horrible noises! Curb appeal was poor- the cabin was located in a stoned cul-de-sac. Our cabin had weeds growing in the eaves near the roofline. The driveway had large ruts that made our car bottom out even when driving extremely slow. Luxury cabin--NOT! The carpet in the master bedroom was all ripped and torn. The bedspread in the master bedroom was ripped. There was nowhere to set our luggage/suitcases. (Unless we piled them up in closet) The teeny tiny dresser did not hold much! In addition to the lack of storage for our clothes, there was no where to place our toiletries! So, they sat on the floor in bags. The blankets in the bunk bed room and ones for the pull out couch were disgusting, stained and nasty. We found a bug (cockroach) in our bed on the 2nd night! You don’t sleep well knowing that there are bugs in your bed. The two we mainly used were warped or food stuck to them (even with oil) and they really needed a good scrub. We did dishes each night which meant we had enough for the following day. If we hadn't we would have run out of dishes. A second set of dishtowels and scrubber brush would have been helpful too for our 6 night stay. The lower level carpet is snagging with some runs throughout. Those items aside, the house was very comfortable and nice to come back to each day. Due to winter weather, we could not get to Gatlinburg for the first night of our rental. It was well equipped and clean. The only draw backs were there was no restroom on the ground -entry floor and the second bedroom was queen bunk beds...they were pretty cool but not for my 75/80 year old parents who had planned to join us. * since this was a substitute, I'm sure Elk Springs would have found something suitable if we requested it. The cabin is a perfect size for our family of 4. We had stayed here for 2 nights the year previous and the kids were very keen to come back to the same cabin. The cabin is open and spacious and has two working fireplaces, one on each floor which quickly heat up the cabin - although the downstairs is noticeably cooler than upstairs as you would expect. The only criticism of the cabin i would have is that the carpet is starting to look quite shabby. We really noticed the difference from the year previous. It is looking quite discolored in places and is even threadbare in places in the master bedroom. We also wondered why there are no doormats, either at the front door or balcony. It means whenever we cam in from outside there is nowhere to wipe your feet and results in walking in snow, ice and mud every time - which i am sure does not help the state of the carpets. We really like Elk Springs Resort and i am sure we will be back - but i think we will try and check out a different cabin next time." The cabin is two stories and for such a small space, it is laid out very well. Upon inspection, as I do anywhere that I stay, I pulled back the sheets on the master bed and found 3 hairs at the foot of the bed, on the fitted sheet. (I believe it was just an oversight from laundry.) I immediately pull the sheets to wash them and notice that the mattress cover had several hairs on it too. The rain tower shower was really cool, but it had 2 bulbs that didn't work and so it was really really dark. I finally decided to call Elk Springs and complain when I walked in the shower and found a Bobby pin laying on the floor of the shower! The kids went to try out the hot tub, and when we uncovered it, we noticed the it was dirty, but the filter had came off and was laying in the bottom of the hot tub. I called Elk Springs Resort and they sent 2 separate people out to take care of my issues. Along, with one follow up call to ensure the maintenance guy resolved my issue. So I'm not sure if it was just bad luck on my part, but I just wasn't overall satisfied. I'm not sure if I offended housekeeping, but when they came and were making the bed with the new sheet, they made the comment that the hair on the fitted sheet must have fell from the ceiling fan. Lol. The front desk was great to try and resolve my issues, so I would recommend them for customer service. But this particular cabin needs some attention. The trim and baseboards were very dusty. And the fake wood tree at the steps needs to be cleaned as well, it had clots of dust on it. I hate to give such a detailed and negative review, but I wished I had known the condition beforehand and I would have chose a different cabin with better up keep. It was beautiful and we had the option of being cozy or having our own space to relax. The cabin had a perfect privacy screen around the hot tub making us feel secluded and added to the romantic ambiance. The property was clean and while some areas could use an update (carpet in the master bedroom), overall, it was a beautiful property. During our stay it snowed almost a foot and the team at Elk Springs came by and shoveled the walkway, salted it and even shoveled around our vehicle. It was above and beyond our expectations of customer service. The check in was easy, we were able to go straight to the cabin and were texted our entry code. We would definitely recommend this property, and the resort to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Gatlinburg area. Couple of area notes: make the the trip to Cades Cove. It is nearby and worth the trip. We went and the road was shut down to cars (this is more common until March), so we walked a bit of it and it was like being in another world. We stopped at The Ship the first night since it was near the cabin and we wanted to grab some appetizers and something to sip. It was a very cute bar and the food was really very good. We were so enchanted that we even bought a t-shirt to commemorate our visit. We also visited the Smokey Mountain Brewery and did some shopping, although some shops were closed due to the season. Needless to sat my husband was then very upset and wanted to leave immediately! I said no it was paid for and we were staying.We finally got to sleep around 630am slept until 1pm,husband still pissed went to eat dinner at a lousy restaurant in Pigeon Forge came back packed he went back to bed alone I stayed watched movies rest of the time until 5am Sunday morning packed and was out by 6am.Needless to say we didn't connect,haha!" Dan called and tried to give me a diferent code - which did not work either, he tried to reach front desk. over-all it was 30 minutes that we waited outside the cabin, me being pregnant and needed to use the restroom after the long drive - which was not available to me, 2 kids uncomfortably asleep in the car. 30 min later I received a call with an entirely new code saying that although my frustration is understood the focus is for me to get in. I did not receive a call afterwards only a massage in the morning saying they heard my massage and wanted to make sure I got in. this was not at all what I expected from this high value cabin - truly dissapointing exwerience. Our air conditioning went out and it was repaired within hours. The location was not right for us because we planned on hiking everyday and we felt we spent too much time driving back and forth so it is not very convenient if you want to take a break back at the cabin in the middle of the day. It's about a 40 minute round trip from the cabin to the main entrance of the park. The cabin is very private and if you are interested in the arts and crafts area this location is perfect for you. The seating is not very good for more than two people and only one person can stretch out and I would have preferred a larger master bedroom with more natural light because the bedroom is dark. The shower is great and the kitchen is beautiful and nicely appointed. The gravel road directly to the cabin was a PITA but thankfully a good part of the road is paved.
