Although you feel very secluded at the cottage...you're really not!! The fishing off the dock if GREAT, especially the catfish!! Sunsets are spectacular from the porch or dock. The cottage is very comfortable with all the comforts of home. The hospitality is second to none....Michael brought peanuts in the shell to us while we fishing on the dock and provided everythnig we needed to clean our catch of the day!! The yard was nicely landscaped and a good place for our small children to play. We really enjoyed sitting on the back porch and on the deck over the lake watching the incredible sunsets and all the swimming ducks. The fishing was good and swimming was easy. We loved the strings of white lights hanging from the trees and houses. The house was very clean and nicely decorated, with ceiling fans throughout. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were comfortable. The family room was particularly nice with knotty pine paneling, slate tile floors, and wooded views. From fishing equipment to bath products to snacks and games, our hosts thought of it all. The kitchen alone had every pan, dish or cooking tool imaginable, including a blender with frozen drink canisters. Not only was everything neat as a pin and fastidiously clean, there were thoughtful details and homey, decorative touches throughout. We loved the fabulous quilts and stacks of pillows on each bed, the magazines, and cozy throws to wrap up in. If it weren't so gorgeous outside, we would have hunkered down and never ventured out. And why not when we had satellite TV in each bedroom (plus in the main room with a DVD player) and could pad around on heated slate floors? But it was hard to resist admiring the beautiful landscaping as we rocked on the porch. The lawn sloped down to the water, and it wasn't far to the dock which was ideal for swimming, fishing, happy-houring, and watching the magnificent sunset. There was even a hammock to laze in as we watched the ducks put on a show. And it just kept getting better. Only Mom could have worried more whether we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. Hosts Michael and Ron brought us sliced apples, ciabatta bread, coffee, fresh eggs, and even a floating cooler for our drinks when we were in swimming. They have nice patio furniture, rocking chairs, spacious house & game room area. No need to bring your own chairs and rafts. they have that too! Everything is kept very new and clean. New grill. They have all the cooking utensils & even spices to use. From the farm fresh eggs,fresh bread and other snacks that awaited us,to the thirsty,thick towels,downy-soft nestling blankets, heated slate floors and nap-inducing recliners and large couch before the deep stone fireplace,everything was relaxing and comforting. On Sunday afternoon, Michael delivered warm roasted peanuts which we enjoyed while watching football and playing some of the many games that are available at the Cottage. The home was impeccably decorated and maintained. There was a friendly outdoor kitty that spent much of each day with us and the kids. He'd follow us to fish on the beach,play games on the lawn and to lay in the hammock. The sunsets were amazing and we had our own private beach (for fishing and playing in the sand) to enjoy during our family's stay in Nov 2006. You will love this place! We did! Not only was the cottage adorable (not to mention the cozy and quaint deck, hammock and swings out back) but the service that Ron and Michael provided us as well as the amenities and personal touches throughout our stay proved better than many top notch hotels. The guys came out and checked on us, provided endless firewood for the fire we kept going for 2 days (talk about relaxing!) supplies for smores and brownies for the kids, lush towels and a fully stocked kitchen just to name a few things. Taking a shower on a cold fall morning, padding around on heated tile and smelling a fresh lily in a vase nearby was heaven. The guys even brought over a second DVD player for the rumpus room, which became the kids "special"room during our stay. I just can't say enough. I was a little worried that the boys might be bored but they had a great time. They fished off the dock and caught numerous catfish. Although I have traveled extensively, I can honestly say this was the MOST relaxing vacation we've had in years.Our every need was met - fresh towels available hot from the dryer, luxurious sheets on the super comfy beds, a kitchen stocked with more gadgets than a 4 star chef could need, even an extra fridge for the watelmelon and other refreshments. Among our favorite features: Gourmet coffee enjoyed dock side each morning, a firepit where our kiddos could roast marshmallows and weiners, the lights strung around the property in the trees, which lent an old time camp feel to our stay, and finally all the water toys provided for our use (kayaks, noodles, tubes, etc.).
