Contact advertiser for specific directions.   Description An Autumn weekend in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermon at Seymour Lake is wonderful as the leaves turn the colors of fall. Vermont is beautiful for swimming, boating, kayaking, fishing, and just relaxing in the fall sun as the leaves turn color. The days are generally warm, and the nights are cool and crisp. A wood fire in the wood stove takes away the chill. The lake is the best in Vermont�s Northeast Kingdom, and is crystal clear. The resident loons call out to each other in the evening, and one can even kayak close to them! Whether you prefer kayaking, canoeing, or motor boating, Seymour Lake is spacious and definitely not crowded. Water temperatures are very pleasant, especially in August and September. Swim laps from the dock to the raft. Moor your boat and have it available for cruising, wakeboarding, skiing, tubing, and fishing. Bass fishing is at its best right off the dock! Lake trout are seen jumping at flies. There are two groceries within a mile, one by the public beach. There are several golf courses within driving distance. The country roads lead one to antique shows, craft fairs, festivals, and of course, country yard sales. Drive north twenty minutes and cross the border into Quebec. French Quebec is delightful to visit. Fall foliage in Vermont arrives mid-September at Seymour with a beautiful display of autumn colors, warm days and crisp nights. It is the best of autumn in New England. Take the chill out of the evening with a fire in the wood stove. Necessary services can be found within ten miles or so in the Derby/Newport area or Island Pond. Antique stores can be found in a variety of towns or along the country roads. Fresh vegetables can be purchased at farm roadside stands. Fresh local corn is available most of August and September. A hiking trail system is available at nearby Lake Willoughby with breathtaking views. The Long Trail hiking trails and Jay Peak Ski Area are a little further east, but within a reasonable driving distance. Bike around Seymour Lake, about 12 miles, or bike to the nearby lakes of Echo, Salem, Willoughby, or Crystal. Biking in Vermont is spectacular with the clean country air and the colorful landscape; bike from town to town, and stop to take in the view! There are golf courses available in the area, and a new 18 hole championship golf course that just opened at Jay Peak Resort. Vermont�s Burlington airport is 85 miles to the southwest. We can offer reasonable midway accommodations at Jay Peak resort upon request. Manchester, NH airport is 139 miles to the southeast. Located on the north shore of the lake, this non-smoking and pet-free cottage on Seymour Lake has two bedrooms, a bathroom with shower, kitchen with basics, dining area, living room, enclosed porch, and large deck. It is decorated cottage style, and is an older structure. Pets are not permitted at all, no exceptions. Water supply is from a drilled well. Beds sleep 6, four in one room on twin beds and a bunk bed, and two on a queen bed in the other bedroom. Beds are in quality condition. Bed linens and towels are provided. Gas heat and a wood stove are centered in the Living room. Firewood is on site. Local telephone service is provided with a mobile unit that one can bring down to the dock if expecting a call. The boat access launch is about a mile away on the eastern part of the lake, and boat may be moored at the cottage. Three kayaks, vests, and paddles are also available for use. There is a public beach within a mile from the cottage. For a delightful summer or fall experience without the crowds, Seymour Lake is the place. Email to inquire as to availability. Drive the country roads and look at the fabulous colors. Autumn in Vermont is spectacular!  Rates: Weekend rentals are from Friday 5 pm to Sunday 2 pm at $475. per weekend, plus an additional 9% Vermont rooms tax. Pay by personal check in advance, or by credit card on PayPal for a last minute reservation. To reserve a weekend, a $250. deposit is required. Payment in full is due upon arrival, payable by cash or money order. Two day mid-week stay is charged at $225. per day plus 9% VT rooms tax. Additional weekdays at $200 per nite, exclusive of Friday and Saturday nites.
