Sunny warm days in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont at Seymour Lake can be a wonderful combination of fun and relaxation! Vermont is beautiful for lakeside life, swimming, boating, kayaking, fishing, and all sorts of water sports! With southern exposure, the sun shines on the cottage most of the day. In the evening sit around the campfire and enjoy s'mores and sharing stories. On site firewood included for your convenience.
The lake is the best in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, and is crystal clear. The resident loons call out to each other in the evening, and one can even kayak close to them during the day! The fish jump at flies. Moonlight on the lake is simply stunning.
Whether you prefer kayaking, canoeing, motor boating, jet skiing, water skiing, or wakeboarding, Seymour Lake is spacious and definitely not crowded. The water is pristine. Swim laps from the dock to the raft. Moor your boat and have it available for cruising, wakeboarding, skiing, tubing, and fishing. Bass fishing is at its best right off the dock! Lake trout and pike also reside here. Try for a salmon! Or a bass.
This lakefront cottage features a beautiful view of the lake with 99' of lake frontage and southern exposure.
There is one local convenience store. Supermarkets (Shaws, Price Chopper, Derby corner Store) and other stores are found in the neighboring towns. There are several golf courses (Jay Peak, Newport, Orleans, and Quebec courses) within driving distance. Bike around the lake or to other lakes. The country roads lead one to antique shows, craft fairs, festivals, and of course, country yard sales in addition to spectacular displays of mountain scenery. Drive north twenty minutes and cross the border into Quebec. French Quebec is a delightful cultural experience. Magog has a wonderful selection of restaurants; Sherbrooke has good shopping; and Montreal has it all!
Necessary services can be found within ten miles or so in the Derby/Newport area or Island Pond. Antique stores can be found in a variety of towns or along the country roads. Fresh vegetables can be purchased at farm roadside stands or farmers markets.
A hiking trail system is available at nearby Lake Willoughby with breathtaking views, and in Brighton. The Long Trail hiking trails and Jay Peak Ski Area are a little further east, but within a reasonable driving distance. Jay Peak has a fabulous new Indoor Water Park, Hockey Rink, and an assortment of good restaurants. Bike around Seymour Lake, about 12 miles, or bike to the nearby lakes of Echo, Salem, Willoughby, Island Pond, Derby Pond, or Crystal. Biking in Vermont is spectacular with the clean country air and the colorful landscape; bike from town to town, and stop to take in the view!
Vermont's Burlington airport is 85 miles to the southwest. Manchester, NH airport is 139 miles to the southeast.
Located on the north shore of the lake, this non-smoking pet-free cottage on Seymour Lake has two bedrooms, a bathroom with shower, kitchen with basics, dining area, living room, enclosed porch, and large deck. It is decorated cottage "camp" style, and is an older structure. Pets are not permitted at all, no exceptions. Water supply is from a drilled well. Beds sleep 6, four in one room on twin beds and a bunk bed, and two on a queen bed in the other bedroom. Six is the maximum occupancy permitted. Camping outdoors for extra persons is not an option. Beds are in good condition. Bed linens, blankets, and towels are provided. A wood-burning cast iron stove is centered in the Living room. Firewood is on site. Local telephone service is provided.
There is a DVD player for quiet moments, but no television service. This is a "get-away camp" experience. Use the firepit at night to sit around and tell stories. Sit on the dock deck with a cup of something yummy and listen to the loons. Catch a movie in town.
The boat access launch is about a mile away on the northeastern part of the lake, and a boat may be docked at the cottage on a mooring ball. Four kayaks, vests, and paddles are also available on site for use. There is a public beach within a mile from the cottage.
For a delightful experience without the crowds, Seymour Lake is the place.

"Very nice camp and beautiful lake. We stayed there in 2009 for a week. Saw loons and an eagle.
Kayaks were nice touch we ended up buying two after we experienced these. Fire pit in a rough place to sit around in chairs but still had fun. No complaints for sure with camp but fishing in Lake Seymour was very poor. Caught nothing all week.."
