This big water, privately gated waterfront property and house is 100% completely surrounded by lake water and pristine marshlands with lily-pad ponds and abundant wildlife. Situated on 2.3 acres of grassy land, it is adjacent to the Santee National Wildlife Refuge with no visible neighbors from the property, or human sounds, except an occasional passing boat. The house, newly renovated in 2006, is a 5 bedroom 3 bath home, with 7 queen-size beds, sleeping 14. It's located on Lake Marion of the Santee-Cooper Lake System in South Carolina which requires that 70% of it's shore-line remain undeveloped, and totals approximately 170,000 acres of fresh water. It is an absolutely incredible property with about 300 feet of sandy beach, a lighted boat dock new in 2006, concrete boat landing, boat storage shed, bond fire pit, charcoal grill and large grassy yard for the kids to frolic and play yard games. Solitude is completely private and serene with incredible views. Except the occasional passing boat, the only sounds you'll hear are the calls of the Blue Herring, the Osprey and the lapping water. The Santee-Cooper Lake System, comprised of Lakes Marion and Moultrie, flows into Charleston harbor via the Cooper River and is easily navigatable by boat. Lake Marion is the larger of the two lakes with 110,000 acres of fresh water, over 40 miles in length and 8 miles across in some areas. These lakes are world renowned as a fishing mecca. In April 2006, the ESPN-Citgo BASSMASTER Elite Fishing Tournament was held here and recorded the largest poundage of large-mouth bass EVER caught during a 4 day tournament. EVER!!! The world records for black crappie and channel catfish are also held here. This is home to the original fresh water striped bass, so you can imagine how large they've grown by now.
